MachoMan, +94 points and Great Gold medal
The prestigious French Magazine Gilbert & Gaillard has just recognized the new vintage 2016 of MachoMan with +94 points and the gold medal.
The Prize Jury describes MachoMan as a “ a wine with a beauty violet red color. It has an aromatic festival, which merges black fruits and an elegant toast. In the mouth, a surprise of modernity and a perfect harmony among alcohol, fruit, toasts and tannins. A wine of excellence and great oenological merit. To find more link here.
The new vintage of MachoMan comes from 13 Monastrell vineyards on the Natural Spot of La Raja (where Casa Rojo´s winery and headquarters are located) between the mountain ranges of Sierra de la Pila and Sierra del Carche. Vineyards of 20 to 70 years old, that are hand harvested in 15kg small boxes just at the right point of maturity.
Grapes are transported in a reefer truck arriving in a few minutes to a double selection table before they enter to the winery. Fermentation takes place in inverse tapered tanks of 7.000 liters. Oak aging in brand new French oak wine barrels from Saury, Seguin Moreau, Saint Martin and Anna coopers, and in clay amphoras of 800 litres.
MachoMan is the purest reflection of the terroir where it comes from, aromas of red fruits (plum, cherry), rosemary, thyme, balsamics and menthol. Long, fresh, elegant, earthy, unique.
